The 22nd Annual South Padre Island Chamber of Commerce Ladies Kingfish Tournament is coming up August 8-10, 2003 at the South Padre Island Convention Center. Weigh-in for the tournament will again be at SouthPoint Marina. Last year’s tournament was in part a huge success because SouthPoint allows larger boats to participate, which enticed new anglers to participate in the tournament. SouthPoint Marina also provides more room for docking and overnight/week-end storage during the tournament.

The tournament kicks off Friday, August 8 with check-in and registration from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Convention Centre, followed by a social from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. There will be a mandatory Bay Division Captain’s meeting at 7:30 p.m. and a mandatory Offshore Division Captain’s meeting at 8:00 p.m.

On Saturday, fishing begins at 6:30 a.m. SouthPoint Marina is where all the action will be with Bay division weigh-in from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Offshore weigh-in from 2:30 to 7:00 p.m. The change in location also provides a much larger viewing and parking area for family and friends, and anyone else that would like to see who brings in the biggest fish. The Sunday Awards Ceremony will be held at the South Padre Island Convention Centre beginning at 11:00 a.m. All participants are invited to attend.

Registration fees for the tournament are $65.00 per angler before July 18, 2003 and $75.00 per angler after July 18, 2003. The registration fee includes an event T-shirt, event bag, refreshments and hors’ d oeuvres at the Friday night social, and a light brunch at the Sunday awards ceremony. There is an optional $30.00 social fee for guests, captains or crew that includes an event T-shirt and refreshments at the social and awards ceremony. Tickets may also be purchased at the door for the Friday evening Social and at the Sunday Brunch for $10.00 per person, per event. Children under 12 will be $5.00 per child, per event. Food will be available only with a ticket.
